1. TUC Deputy National President, Onuegbu, Is Dead

The Deputy National President of the Trade Union Congress, Chika Onuegbu, is dead.

The former chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the union was reported dead in the early hours of Saturday after a brief illness.

The Rivers State indigene has been an active labour leader and public commentator within the State and Nigeria as a whole.

2. President Buhari Increases Npower Budget (Full Details)

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the increase of the budget of social investment scheme, Npower, by N365 Billion.

Naija News reports that the Buhari-led government announced the increment in a post via his official Twitter handle @MBuhari on Friday.

Buhari disclosed this while discussing deliberate actions taken to expand the nation’s fiscal budget for 2021.

3. APC Discloses Date For Membership Registration

The ruling All Progressives Congress on Saturday noted that it will commence the registration of new members and update of register on Monday, January 25.

The party disclosed this in a statement released the Secretary of its Caretaker and Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee, John Akpanudoedehe, titled, ‘Membership registration, update, revalidation exercise January 25’.

Part of the statement read, “We have recognised the need for continued conflict resolution and have decided to vigorously pursue reconciliation on all fronts in order to emerge as a stronger party, ahead of the congresses and the 2023 general elections.”

4. We Won’t Respond To COVID-19 Second Wave With Panic – Yahaya Bello

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has said his administration will not respond to the second wave of COVID-19 with panic.

He made this known in a New Year broadcast on Friday to the people of Kogi.

The governor noted that his government will continue to respond to developments with reason informed by knowledge.

According to Bello, the primary objective of his administration is keeping Kogi state Coronavirus-free, adding that it would be irresponsible of his government to see COVID-19 as a definer of 2020.

5. NIN: FG Unveils New Directives For SIM replacement

President Muhammadu Buhari-led government has released new directives for telecommunication service subscribers to replace lost, stolen, misplaced or damaged SIM cards.

The Nigerian Communications Commission stated that subscribers must present their National Identification Numbers for their SIM cards to be replaced.

The National Identification Numbers will be confirmed by the National Identity Management before Mobile Network Operators replace such SIM cards.

6. Another Lady ‘Disgrace’ Africa’s Richest Man Aliko Dangote

Another side chick of Nigerian born Africa’s Richest Man Aliko Dangote has ‘disgraced’ him with details of their secret relationship.

Naija News recalls that Restaurateur Bea Lewis, a side chic who was recently dumped by the African richest man, Aliko Dangote had cried out on social media.

The new lady identified as Allarounda1 on Instagram shared a video of herself and Mr Dangote on a couch draped in an orange blanket fiddling with his mobile phone amidst clearly exposed buttocks.

7. Alleged Sexual Abuse: Victim’s Parents Demand N100m Compensation From Deeper Life School

The parents of an 11-year-old boy who was allegedly abused sexually in Deeper Life High School, Akwa Ibom State, have demanded N100m compensation for the molestation their son was subjected to in the school.

According to the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Iniobong Archibong, they demanded compensation from the school for subjecting their child, Don Davis, to gross child abuse, palpable molestation, serial bullying, criminal starvation, malicious oppression, and dubious maltreatment.

In a letter sent through their lawyers, Eagle-Eyes Network Chambers, and signed by David Okon, dated December 22, 2020, and addressed to the principal of the school, the parents gave the school 21 days ultimatum to pay the 100m compensation.

8. Bishop Oyedepo Releases Winners’ Chapel 2021 Prophetic Declarations

The founder of Living Faith Ministry aka Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo has released the church’s 2021 prophetic declarations for the year.

10. Former Presidential Candidate, Sowore To Sue Police For Torture – Falana

A human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, on Saturday, noted that he has been directed by SaharaReporters Publisher, Omoyele Sowore, to sue the Nigeria Police Force for torture.

Falana disclosed this development in a message forwarded to the Punch.

The Senior Advocate noted that the former presidential candidate was badly beaten and subjected to dehumanising conditions in contravention of the Anti-Torture Act.
